On August 2, 2025, Colombo witnessed the grand opening of City of Dreams Sri Lanka, South Asia's first fully integrated luxury resort. Developed through a collaboration between John Keells Holdings PLC and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, this $1.2 billion project aims to redefine Sri Lanka's hospitality and entertainment landscape.
The event was graced by Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, who headlined the ceremony, captivating attendees with his presence. Originally, Shah Rukh Khan was slated to inaugurate the resort, but Hrithik Roshan stepped in, adding his signature charisma to the proceedings.
Located at 01 Justice Akbar Mawatha in Colombo, the 4.5-million-square-foot architectural marvel was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Cecil Balmond. The resort features over 800 luxury hotel rooms, rejuvenating wellness retreats, premium retail experiences, and globally inspired culinary offerings—all with breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and the vibrant city skyline.
